World’s largest cross-platform app store, GetJar marries with Magmito, world’s first cross-platform app creation tool

Monumental partnership provides end-to-end mobile content creation & distribution for all phones

SAN MATEO, Calif. and STOCKHOLM, Sweden – October 4, 2010 – DIDMO, creators of the award-winning Magmito mobile application creation solution and GetJar, the world’s second largest app store, next to Apple, have joined forces to enable an end-to-end solution for cross-platform mobile content creation, publishing, distribution and marketing.

The partnership will empower consumers and small to mid-sized businesses to create engaging mobile apps with Magmito’s easy-to-use toolset and publish that content to GetJar, which has over 1 billion downloads to date in over 200 countries.

“This first-of-its-kind partnership will do for the mobile market what FrontPage did for the Internet, place the power of content creation and distribution in the hands of the heartbeat of the economy, small to mid-sized business,” said Patrick Mork, Chief Marketing Officer, GetJar. “DIDMO and GetJar have a shared vision of a cross-platform world, where we believe high-quality mobile content should be accessible to everyone, regardless of phone type. Together, we are targeting an important market segment with an easy, affordable and streamlined gateway into mobile marketing and in doing so, we will expand the mobile ecosystem.”

According to Mork, now budget-conscious businesses and end consumers can become their own developers and create one campaign through Magmito that works on virtually all phones and opt to distribute that content through GetJar. “We are giving companies the opportunity to get a leg up and compete in an increasingly mobile world and empowering the mobile generation with a tool to reach friends and family, all without having to outsource to mobile app developers or be tied to one platform,” said Mork. “Not only can marketers control advertising but they can create and update content on-the-fly, which will result in more quality apps and an influx of DIY developers into the market.”

Completed applications get sent to GetJar and once approved, they are published on GetJar’s app store. The “Publish to GetJar” feature is available for all Magmito users and the award-winning toolset will be promoted on GetJar as its preferred mobile marketing app creation platform. Consumers can opt for free content creation, subsidized by targeted advertising whereas businesses can pay $399 to create an advertising-free Magmito application. GetJar users pay a per app download fee for premium placement.

“App stores like GetJar are clearly an important channel for marketers to distribute mobile content but the developments costs associated with creating separate apps for every platform are a serious obstacle for the small to mid-sized business market and a threat to mass adoption of the medium,” said Angelo Biasi, VP Business Development, DIDMO. “Magmito removes these barriers to entry and empowers everyone from your next door neighbor to Luigi’s Pizza and local ad agencies to easily move their one message to virtually every mobile and reach their audience where they’re looking for content, through the world’s largest cross-platform app store.”

Magmito is the mobile industry’s first user-generated mobile content creation tool that allows anyone to easily create, publish and share cross-platform compatible content. With Magmito’s easy-to-use templates, customized presentations can easily be created and viewed as an application or within a mobile browser distributed to virtually any mobile phone. The revolutionary service allows users to embed video clips, telephone call linking as well as mobile couponing and the ability to implement questions and polls, allowing consumer brands to solicit feedback from customers. Full tracking and reporting is also included and updating is executed in real-time avoiding approval times as in the case of iPhone and some other app creation solutions. Magmito empowers anyone from individuals to agency and enterprise with free, ad-supported content creation, advanced tools or custom campaigns and integrations.
